Anaru was born, raised and studied in the Waikato and spent a number of years in Te Whanganui a Tara. He was previously Trust’s Chair and was one of the representatives for Te Tatau o Te Pō Marae. He recently stepped aside from the Trust at the conclusion of his three year tender.
Anaru holds a conjoint degree in Laws and Social Sciences (majoring in Political Science) from the University of Waikato and is an enrolled barrister/solicitor.
Anaru has worked across a number of different roles in both central and local government. His particular focus has been the health and social services sector where he has worked with not-for-profit organisations and government departments.
Anaru serves on the board of Puketapu ki Paraparaumu Trust as well a number of other governance roles.
Anaru is currently employed by the U.S. Department of State as Tumu Ruruku - Cultural Affairs Coordinator.
