I’m a Senior Environmental Liaison Officer and policy advisor working at the interface of mana whenua, local and central government, and the private sector.
Through Hīkoikoi Management, I currently work with the Wellington Tenths Trust and Palmerston North Māori Reserve Trusts, providing strategic cultural, regulatory, and policy advice across infrastructure, urban development, and planning projects in Te Whanganui-a-Tara and the wider region.
My work is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and includes Cultural Impact and Values Assessments, legislative submissions, and advice on resource management and cultural heritage.
I also co-facilitate teacher programmes on local Māori history and tikanga-informed practice. Guided by the legacy of my grandmother, Liz Mellish, I’m committed to supporting Te Āti Awa to exercise kaitiakitanga over our moana and freshwater resources, strengthening our collective mana whenua voice across our takiwā and protecting these taonga for future generations.
